Jonathan Bailey Photography

Jonathan Bailey BA HONS trained as a photographer at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design (now the University for the Creative Arts). After obtaining his degree, he worked for a time in London as an apprentice to a corporate photographer. However, it was during this period, he decided that sterile, studio product photography was not for him, instead deciding that he preferred to work on location whenever possible.

Jonathan doesn’t like to feel pigeon holed as a photographer, and enjoys experimenting in new areas of the medium, whenever the mood takes him. As such, he has focused his lens upon a range of subjects, producing work in the areas of street, music gig, portrait landscape and wildlife. He also enjoys using a range of software including Lightroom and Photoshop to enhance his images. Currently, he is specialising in macro photography, and is working on a set of images that he hopes to exhibit once finished.

His work has been exhibited in London, and he has sold his photographs to a range of clients, some as far afield as the USA.

As well as photography, Jonathan is also an experienced Graphic Designer, and has recently started producing cartoons and illustrations for a book that he is working on.

We at ‘westernhackamore.com’, are delighted to announce that Jonathan has produced a series of photographs that explore the theme of equine, which we hope will appeal to our customers. If you would like to purchase a print, the work will be available on our website very soon.

A word from Jonathan...

I hope that you enjoy the images that I have made around the theme of equine. My love of photography, is in capturing the ‘moment’ that we often miss in real time. Be it, the beauty of a damselfly momentarily perched on a reed, before continuing it’s never ending search for food and a mate, the frost melting in the first rays of the sun, or a lasso being thrown and forever suspended in mid flight. The look of concentration on the riders face, the flare of the horses nostrils, the dust kicked-up by the animal’s hoof. These moments last for the blink of the eye, and are forever lost. Through my photographs, a tiny number of these moments are captured forever, each unique, never to be replicated.

It was great fun working with Matt to produce the photographs featured below. I was always a little wary of horses. I always found them a little intimidating. However, Matt has shown me how incredible, loyal and intelligent they are when treated with the respect and love they deserve. Admiring his horsemanship through the lens, was a constant thrill. The horses were magnificent, especially when outfitted with the beautiful tack that his company sells.

I hope you enjoy the photographs as much as I did making them.
